Transport
With easy links to the North, South, East, and West of the country, Brighton offers visitors a choice of 8 train stations dotted across the city.
The main two train stations are Brighton Train Station and Hove Train Station, both of which offer the closest distance to the city centre and beach front.
Brighton Train Station has step free access to all platforms and to the station. It also offers disabled toilets, a waiting room, wheelchairs available to hire, and accessible taxis. Hove Train Station has step free access to all platforms as well as the station itself. Ramps are available to ensure safe transition from platform to train carriage. Trains from London Victoria and Southampton will call at this station. Accessible taxis and toilets are available and visitors can hire wheelchairs if needed. Hove station provided a Passenger Assist option, offering support to disabled and elderly travellers. This is a turn up and go scheme but can also be arranged up to two hours in advance. Buses in Brighton are wheelchair accessible and most bus stops are on a raised kerb allowing for level access. Should this not be the case, ramps are available and when possible the Bus driver will endeavour to allow wheelchair users first entry onto the bus. Many visitors travel to Brighton purely for its beach. Newly, Brighton & Hove City Council has introduced beach wheelchairs. Currently, there are three beach wheelchairs available for hire from the Seafront Office in Brighton. These wheelchairs, with balloon wheels, are specifically designed to traverse the pebbled seafront and are free of charge. An all-terrain electric wheelchair is being tested for use, so stay tuned for more information when it becomes available.
